Can't help you on the stock trading, I only know about stock investing.


Meaning, "trading" sounds like you're doing short term trading, and I don't do that. My understanding is that most who do that end up underperforming the general market (e.g. the S&P 500). If you're "investing", it all depends on what your goals are. The S&P 500 as mentioned below is a reasonable benchmark. The Russell 3000 is a broader market that includes mid and small cap companies.
